Here’s what hotel owners ask us about OTA numbers.
Have questions about our system?
Get in Touch With UsHow much commission am I paying OTAs?
Booking.com puts its own global average commission at 15 percent, and that's the only commission figure any platform states about itself. Sponsored placement and visibility programmes sit on top of it, and your own rate is set in your agreement, so if you know it, use it. That's why the rate on this page is a box you type into rather than a figure we've chosen for you. Put your rooms, your average rate, your occupancy and your OTA share in with it and you'll see what it comes to across a year.
What commission rate should I put in?
The one you actually pay, if you know it. If you don't, start at 15 percent, which is where we set the box and where Booking.com puts its own global average commission. Then try it at 18 and at 20 and see how much the year moves. We deliberately don't lock this number, because a figure we present as your loss should be one you can check and change yourself.
How does this page work out the number?
Plain arithmetic, shown on the page. Your room count times 365 nights times your occupancy gives the room-nights you sell in a year. That times your OTA share gives the ones sold through a platform. That times your average nightly rate times the commission rate you entered gives what the platforms charge you across the year, and we divide it out to a month and to a single room for one night. There's nothing else in the calculation, which is why you can check it.
Do I have to give my email to see the result?
No. There's no email box, no sign-up, and nothing held back until you hand something over. You put your figures in, the result appears, and you can copy the link or print it without telling us who you are. If you'd rather talk it through afterwards, there's a free 15-minute call you can book, and that's your choice to make.
Is this an audit of my books?
No. It's an estimate built from the figures you entered, not an audit of your books. We don't see your reservations, your statements or your accounts, so the result is exactly as accurate as your five estimates are. Owners who put in a real average rate and an honest occupancy get a number worth showing to somebody. Owners who guess get a guess, worked out neatly.
Can I send the result to my business partner?
Yes, and that's what it's built for. Copy the link and it opens on the same five figures you entered, so whoever you send it to sees what you saw and can change a number themselves if they disagree with one. There's also a print view if the person you need to convince would rather hold a page. No sign-in at either end.
If I go direct, how much would I save?
We won't put a figure on that, because we'd be inventing it. What we can tell you is the part that's fixed: on a booking through your own site there's no platform commission. Your guest pays you, not a middleman. Nobody takes a commission on top. Separately, the payment gateway charges its own standard processing fee, the way every payment gateway does. The slider on the result screen only does arithmetic on a share you moved yourself, so it's a what-if you built, not a forecast from us.
Ready to take your hotel bookings direct on your site?
Bring your room count and your rates. Fifteen minutes, on a call or on WhatsApp, and you'll walk away knowing what we'd build, what it'd cost, and what your hotel would look like running on it.
